If you have had a criminal conviction in the past, this is not a barrier to studying at Durham.
However, as part of the universities’ duty of care to students and staff we do ask for offer holders to declare any relevant unspent convictions. All undergraduate offer holders will be sent an email two days after they have made us their firm or insurance choice asking to declare any convictions.

This will enable us to explore with you, in confidence, what, if any, measures are needed to help you to undertake your studies at Durham University.
In most cases, the nature of your offence will not require any adjustments but if it does, these will be discussed with you directly before you arrive.
Spent convictions are not relevant and you do not need to disclose them. If you are unsure if your conviction is ‘spent’ you can check using this link.
You can find details on how to disclose your conviction, the information you need to provide, how the information will be reviewed and the convictions you need to tell us about on our Criminal Convictions Policy.
