If you are studying Physics as an undergraduate, you will require ATAS Clearance (Academic Technology Approval Scheme).

You can find guidance on how to apply here.

Your ATAS certificate must be linked to Durham University to be able to use this as part of your visa application to study at Durham University.

The CAH codes are:

F301 MPhys Physics - CAH07-01-01
FF3N MPhys Physics and Astronomy - CAH07-01-01
F344 MPhys Theoretical Physics - CAH07-01-01

You should apply for ATAS clearance well in advance of making your student visa application as the processing time for ATAS can be as long as 30 working days.

You should use the name of the head of your department Professor Paula Chadwick

For details of the modules available on your course, please see the Undergraduate Module Handbook. Modules in the current academic year’s guide are acceptable for this purpose.

You do not need an ATAS certificate if you are a national of any of these countries.
