It is possible to change courses once you’ve arrived at Durham, but it’s not something that happens often.

We want to make sure that our students have the best quality experience, so we have a set number of places on each course.

These places are competitive, and we have to make sure that we treat these carefully selected students fairly.

If you want to be considered for a course transfer while at Durham, you will need to meet the new course’s entry requirements.

We would look at your academic merit as well as availability of spaces on the course.

We also need to look at whether you will be able to catch up on the new course, so it’s more difficult to transfer later on as you will have missed more work.

If you are able to change degree course, it will be your responsibility to catch up on any work that you have missed.

We will always do our best to support you during your studies. Any students who need information or guidance can call on staff from their department for help.
