Undergraduate

Applicants who receive an offer from us are given the opportunity to rank their college preferences in our Undergraduate Applicant Portal.

You can improve your chances of being allocated to a college that meets your accommodation requirements by ranking those colleges the highest on the list.

For example, if you want self-catered accommodation, you could rank South, John Snow, Josephine Butler, Stephenson and St Cuthbert's Society as your first five preferences. The allocation process will then try and place you in those colleges first, before moving on to others. You can find out more about the facilities on offer at your colleges here.

Once allocated, the college allocation is part of our broader offer and not something that would be changed at the applicant's request. You can read more about our college allocation process hereIf you have concerns about your allocation, we recommend that you discuss your concerns and requirements with your allocated college.

Postgraduate

You are able to express two preferences for either membership only or membership and accommodation (More information about PG college allocation here). With the accommodation Guarantee Scheme, you may be granted membership at a preferred college but not accommodation and thus may be given the opportunity to transfer to a college with accommodation or remain a member-only at your preferred college. As postgraduates are not required to live in or be catered you will have the opportunity to decide which is best for you.

If you have any questions or concerns about your college allocation and membership please contact the college. In cases where you feel your college cannot accommodate a disability or medical need, you can appeal to transfer colleges (more information here).
