If you are an international applicant that needs a pathway / foundation year, we offer them on both undergraduate and postgraduate level. The international foundation is organised by the Durham University International Study Centre (DUISC) and is located in Queen’s Campus in Stockton-on-Tees.

The undergraduate international foundation year will help you to develop the skills you will need for your future Durham University degree. We offer three different international foundations: Business, Economics, Accounting and Finance; Science and Engineering and Humanities, Law and Social Science, which lead to almost 40 undergraduate degrees at the University. The course lasts one academic year and you can start in either September or January. All of the courses have core modules to prepare you for life in a UK higher education institution and modules specific to your chosen degree route. When you successfully complete this pathway and achieve the required grades, you can begin your undergraduate degree at Durham University.

If you plan to undertake postgraduate courses, our pre-masters in Business, Economics, Accounting and Finance and Science and Engineering lead to almost 30 postgraduate degrees at the University. These courses are intended for applicants who want to develop their academic skills and/or English language ability before they start their postgraduate degree. You will study core modules, which cover general skills, and designated modules that prepare you for your specific progression degree. This means your Pre-Masters programme will be tailored to the specific needs of your chosen degree.
