Unfortunately we are unable to provide specific advice regarding suggested living costs as this will depend on your personal circumstances but there are plenty of ways in which we can help! The majority of students will need to pay for accommodation and related costs, food and other household shopping (toiletries, washing powder etc.), utilities, essential clothing, travel, study-related costs and leisure. Our Mini-Guide to Postgraduate Funding is a great way to start thinking about funding your postgraduate course.

You should work out how much you will need to spend on your living costs before you start your course. Many postgraduate students live in College accommodation and you can find information on the cost of living in College accommodation here.

The Accommodation Office can provide information on the cost of private rented accommodation and assist students in looking for accommodation. The Durham Students' Union Advice Centre can check contracts on your behalf and assist if you are having any issues.
